The Harley Medical Group Launches Exclusive Treatment for Stretch Marks and Scars
The Harley Medical group is launching the 'Holy Grail' of cosmetic laser treatments for stretch marks and scars which could help up to 23 million women.

LONDON, ENGLAND, June 04, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- The Harley Medical Group has announced that it will exclusively offer the only FDA-approved fractional laser treatment for stretch marks on the market, which promises to reduce the appearance of stretch marks, medically termed striae, and scars by up to 75%. With up to 90% of women affected by stretch marks, around 23 million women in the UK could be candidates for the procedure.

The laser dramatically reduces the appearance of marks after just a couple of stretch marks treatments. As well as eliminating stretch marks, the laser can treat surgical scars, acne scars, dark skin patches (melasma) and other skin conditions.

Mel Braham, Chairman, The Harley Medical Group, commented, "I must have been presented with more than one hundred 'wonder treatments' for stretch marks over the years but I can say that this is the first that has lived up to all they hype. This breakthrough laser, which has gone through rigorous clinical trials and has been approved by our medical advisory committee, is the only treatment of its type in the UK and promises exceptional results. With so many unproven or ineffective treatments currently on the market, this truly is one of the most exciting non-surgical advancements we have seen in some time."

The treatment will be initially available in the Group's Harley Street, City, Birmingham, Manchester and Dublin clinics and will be available nationwide in the next couple of months.

Stretch marks, with tell-tale pink or silver lines, are the scourge of up to 90% of post-puberty women. Although pregnancy is one of the most common causes, no one is risk-free with growth spurts and weight fluctuations also causing the marks to form. Men are not exempt either, with the most commonly affected areas including the arms, flanks and back.

Maurice Adatto, MD, The Harley Medical Group, commented, "Ongoing clinical studies have shown that patients treated with the non-ablative laser achieved an average improvement of between 51% and 75% in the appearance of their striae. For the right patient, the laser provides a treatment option for stretch marks that offers significant improvement. The non-ablative laser allows for comfortable treatments with little or no impact on the patient's daily activities."

Chantelle O'Leary, nurse counsellor, The Harley Medical Group, said, "In simple terms, the laser works by delivering a ray of microbeams, to create columns of heat within the skin. As the tissue is heated it kick-starts a natural healing process that stimulates new, healthy tissue."
